Responsible Development
Our approach starts with thoughtful design. We work closely with architects, engineers, and specialist consultants to create buildings that are efficient, durable and adaptable, while considering their relationship with the wider environment.
Just as importantly, we look beyond the boundaries of our developments. At Midtown, significant public green spaces and courtyards have been created alongside a historic pedestrian connection between Gibraltar’s old and new towns. At Kings Wharf, landscaping extended the Queensway green belt while the waterfront promenade was retained for the public to enjoy.
For us, successful development should contribute not only to those who live and work within it, but to the wider city around it.
Sharing our Expertise
We believe one of the most meaningful ways we can contribute is by sharing what we know.
Montagu Group provides pro bono professional support to local charities and organisations where our experience in property, development and project management can make a difference.
Our work with the Bonnell Trust includes supporting the restoration and management of its historic properties, helping protect an important part of Gibraltar’s built heritage while enabling those assets to continue supporting the Trust’s charitable purpose.
We also contribute to local charities and community initiatives through donations, sponsorship and professional support.
A Greener Gibraltar
We actively support initiatives that encourage a greener and more sustainable Gibraltar.
Through our close involvement with the Gibraltar Sustainable Buildings Group (GSBG), we work alongside industry professionals to promote best practice, share knowledge and encourage positive change within Gibraltar’s built environment.
Our headquarters was recognised with the inaugural Urban Oasis Award for its contribution to urban greening, while our Midtown and One Bayside developments have sponsored green-roof bus shelters; demonstrating how even the smallest parts of our city can introduce nature, support biodiversity and improve the everyday urban environment.
Heritage & New Purpose
Gibraltar’s historic buildings are an important part of the character of our city. We believe their preservation is best achieved by finding ways for them to remain relevant and useful.
Across our own developments and pro bono work, we have helped restore, adapt and repurpose existing buildings for new generations and new uses; retaining their history while giving them a sustainable future.
This philosophy also extends to our project management work supporting the relocation of Gibraltar’s mental health services into a repurposed historic building: giving an existing building an important new purpose while contributing our expertise to a project with a direct and lasting benefit to the community.
For us, success is measured not only by the buildings we deliver, but by what they contribute to the places and people around them.
